Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 10 to 15 minutes
Makes: 5 generously sized patty

Glenn Baker of Sacramento loves the vegetarian Earth burgers served at Tower Cafe. He was hoping for its recipe or one similar.

Although we haven't received Tower Cafe's recipe, June Inghram of Fair Oaks shares her recipe, which she has used for 35 years. She says it fools meat eaters who think the "hamburger" they are eating is wonderful. Inghram says these vegetarian patties don't shrink up like hamburger patties and they stay moist.

• Ingredients:

1 (20-ounce) can Vege-burger (Inghram suggests Worthington brand)

4 to 5 tablespoons soy sauce

¾ teaspoon poultry seasoning

½ teaspoon Italian seasoning

4 heaping tablespoons dried onion flakes

4 large eggs, beaten

• Instructions:

Mix all ingredients together except eggs. After it is well-mixed, fold in eggs. Do not beat. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Make into patties and place on grill. Before turning, check to make sure egg is set well.

Note: The prep time does not include the 30-minute refrigeration time before patties are cooked.
