GET 'COT UP IN THE FUN!

The 39th annual Patterson Apricot Fiesta continues today and Sunday. Festivities begin with hot-air balloon launches at 6 a.m. both days. There's a parade today at 10 a.m. and a fireworks display this evening at dusk. Other attractions include arm-wrestling and pie-eating contests, a street fair, food booths, entertainment and a petting zoo. Center Circle Plaza, downtown Patterson. Free. 892-3118. GO WITH THE FLOW

Celebrate and protect a beautiful river by attending the first "Green on the Stream — Honoring the Tuolumne River through Music Education and Activism" today at Tuolumne River Regional Park in Modesto. The free family event includes fly-fishing demonstrations, a nature walk among oak trees, wildlife exhibitions for children, a climbing wall, face painting and clowns. Entertainment will be by Modesto go-go dance troupe the Radiowaves, Modesto pop jazz duo Shadow Puppet Theatre and Sonora folk, bluegrass and blues group Coyote Hill. 2-6 p.m., 1200 Tioga Drive. 236-0330.
