At their very core, weddings are about something beautiful: love. It can be easy to forget that amid the craziness of modern nuptials. But it seems that more and more, couples are trying to scale back their weddings, or at least highlight what's wonderful about the blessed event, but often lost in the chaos.

Enter Goods for Goodness Sake (www.goodsforgoodnesssake.com), and the "In Lieu of Favor" cards designed by Erin Nowak of Bride Design.

The cards are simple (and come in three styles to match the theme of your wedding) — they tell guests that instead of sending them home with a piece of chocolate or a candle, you'll be making a donation to charity in honor of your big day. You choose the style and Nowak personalizes them (20 cards for $10).

But here's the good part: Goods for Goodness Sake donates 100 percent of its profits to charity.

So that $50 you just spent to get 100 cards goes to a charity like Project Night Night, which gives security blankets and books to homeless kids, or One Warm Coat, which provides coats to people in need.

The products on the site (including other stationery, notepads, magnets and more) are mostly created by small designers, and the charities are small as well, so you know your donation is more than just a drop in the bucket.

In case you're wondering how the designers make money, most sell their goods on other sites. For example, Nowak's wedding stationery is at www.bridedesign.com.
