A luncheon to benefit seniors in Stanislaus County will be held at 11 a.m. March 31 at the SOS Club in Modesto.
The "CHAIR-ity Event" is sponsored by the Catholic Social Service Guild and will include an auction of chairs painted by local artists, as well as a raffle of other chairs.
The speaker will be The Rev. Mike Kelly, pastor of St. Joaquin Catholic Church in Lockeford. Kelly was a longtime priest at Our Lady of Fatima in Modesto and helped establish the Modesto Youth Soccer program. Besides speaking, he will lead a singalong, sponsors said.
Money raised will help Catholic Charities serve senior citizens with homemaking programs and transportation to help keep them in their homes.
