The first weekend our family moved to Modesto back in 2000, we visited Trinity United Presbyterian Church on the recommendation of the previous homeowner of our house. I remember hearing a member of the pastoral staff say, “Now, I know this isn't politically correct ... but it is biblically correct...” I don't remember the point he was making, but I knew, at that moment, that this was the church for us!
The pastor giving the “biblically correct” sermon that week was the Rev. Dave Kerr. He has a selfless ministry style that says “yes” to God, whenever and wherever he is called. He not only “sermonizes,” but he cooks weekly meals for hundreds of members of the church as well as the neighborhood visitors. He takes groups of kids from the youth group out sailing on his boat during the summer. And he has personally counseled with different members of our family when we have faced crises.
Pastor Kerr is familiar with unrest of many kinds and draws upon his own experiences to help others.
