Name: Mike Wright
City: Salida
The motorcycle: 1998 Harley Softail
What sparked the interest: It's the perfect Santa bike. I've been riding since 1974 and this bike is the most dependable bike I've ever owned.
Road to ownership: I was doing a fund-raiser for the town of Denair at Road Dog Cycle. My bike was not running, so I used this bike to take Santa pictures.
Engine details: The bike is pretty much a stock 80-cubic-inch Evolution motor, with a five-speed transmission.
Body of work: The bike has 18-inch Ape Hanger/2 bars, six-gallon gas tanks and rear lowering kit. Custom paint with gold leaf pinstriping and lots of chrome. It turns heads, even when Santa isn't riding it.
A favorite memory: My favorite memory would be the ride home from Road Dog in my Santa suit. When people see Santa on his bike, they go crazy; no matter who they are, how old they are, they love Santa. So it's a favorite memory that keeps coming and coming.
Side Note: Wright is a member and co-founder of the local chapter of Bikers for Christ (www.bikersforchrist.org). The organization holds fund-raising functions across the area where Santa and his bike can be seen.
