There is nothing Luvleen hasn't done, whether it is academics in school or helping out with the community.

This 17-year-old worked hard to maintain her 4.5 grade-point average while involving herself in many school activities. As the vice president of the Science Club, she helped with organizing her high school's first Delta Blood Bank drive. She was eager to take part in something that would help to save lives.

"At this drive, I actually donated blood myself for the first time," she said.

Because of outstanding grades, Luvleen has been a part of the California Scholarship Federation at Ceres High. As a senior, she was elected president of the club. In the past, she has held positions of secretary, treasurer, sergeant at arms and historian.

The CSF Club recently helped elementary schools with their carnivals, and organized various items and letters to send to troops in Iraq.

As an upperclassman, Luvleen helped younger students with their studies and high school careers by being a part of the Student Ambassadors Program at their school.

"I spent three hours every month helping the lower and upperclassmen succeed, by offering homework help or just tips for high school," she said.

Luvleen also was involved in sports. She was team captain for girls basketball and also won the award for most improved player in volleyball.

Luvleen took home many awards and recognitions. She received the Ceres High School Outstanding Achiever award. She also received the Harvard Honorary Distinction and National Honors Award for excellent academic achievement throughout high school. She took home the Spanish Honors Certificate, in recognition of having taken Spanish as a foreign language and receiving A's for three consecutive years.

Outside of school, Luvleen competed and took first place in the Science Bowl's cell biology category. "Taking AP biology really prepared me for the competition, even though we had sign-ups only one week before the competition actually started," she said.

Luvleen was also a part of the Ceres Youth Commission, in which she volunteers her time to work around the city of Ceres. This past year has been her fifth year in the organization. In previous years, Luvleen worked for Ceres Street Fair, Halloween and Christmas festivals, and food and clothing drives. She also helped to write Christmas letters to children and organize dodgeball tournaments.

Luvleen plans to attend the University of California at Davis in the fall and pursue pediatric neurology.
