Twelve area students who were among the top academic achievers at their respective high schools have been selected as 2009-10 recipients of the Presidential and Provost Scholarships at California State University, Stanislaus.

Receiving the largest individual scholarships at CSU Stanislaus are four graduating high school seniors who have been named President's Scholars and seven incoming freshmen and a Modesto Junior College transfer selected as Provost's Scholars. Presidential Scholarships provide $12,500 per year for four years, and the Provost Scholarships are $3,500 per year for four years.

Named as Presidential Scholars are Anne Coleman of Turlock High School, Randall Robinson of Downey High School in Modesto, Crystal Sundburg of Johansen High School in Modesto and Camila Sweaney of Ripon High School.

Provost Scholarship recipients are Erika Bucheli of Johansen, Paulo Costa of Hilmar High School, Amanda Garcia of Keys to Learning Charter High School in Ceres, who is a Modesto Junior College transfer, Tyler Harris of Pitman High School in Turlock, Chelsea Lopes of Connecting Waters Charter High School in Turlock, Kenneth Maschinchi of Central Catholic High School in Modesto, Brian Meenk of Big Valley Christian High School in Modesto and Robert Van Sant of Downey High of Modesto.
