"My favorite summer day trip is to a cabin in Twain Harte, a mere 75 minutes away. Once my family and I arrive, the first things that I notice are the fresh air and the clear sound of birds chirping. My favorite part of the trip is the last when we all sit on the deck and eat s'mores around the fire. It's always a beautiful day."
Rona Chong, Junior, Modesto High School
"The best day trip is a day trip to eat. I'd probably say picnicking in some nearby natural park would be the best. With cold-cut ham and avocado sandwiches, potato salad, lemonade, and strawberries, and noodle soup, and Cesar salad, and ... But I'm getting carried away. Anyway, eating in the wilderness. It's picturesque, isn't it?"
Victoria Pardini, Senior, Modesto High School
"I don't really take many day trips, even during the summertime. However, I love going to San Francisco because there's always so much to do shopping, sight-seeing, going to shows, relaxing it's definitely my favorite place. However, a day trip last summer to Capitola was definitely a close second."
Emily Kay Shrader, Senior, Enochs High School
"I absolutely adore San Francisco. My family loves to take day trips there often to shop, stuff ourselves with delicious food, and enjoy the ever-changing weather. The funny thing is I used to despise S.F. because of the hectic hustle and bustle, not to mention I was deathly afraid of the homeless people! But in the past few years I have fallen in love with it and would love to live there someday and immerse myself in the artistic atmosphere it offers."
Rachel Crowley, Junior, Ripon High School
"I'd have to say that the summer day trip I love most is up to either Lake Don Pedro or New Melones. We take the boat up and spend a day on the water swimming, wakeboarding, tubing, and just being a family. It's always really fun and I love the time I'm able to spend with my family and friends. It's one of my favorite parts of summer."
Kevin Davidson, Sophomore, Beyer High School
"Personally, I feel that the Bay Area is always a enjoyable daylong escape from the somewhat mundane and painfully predictable city in which I currently reside. Places like San Francisco and Berkeley, or even Oakland just have so much more to do, and about 100 percent more to see. As well as the city, I feel like Pinecrest or any lake really is a good way to just relax without commitment during the usually sweltering months that summer tends to unleash upon us."
Breiana Theodore, Senior, Big Valley Christian
"I actually like to go to the library. It's quiet, air conditioned, and it's a nice, productive place to get many things done."
