An argument over a woman ended early Tuesday when a Merced man stabbed another man in the torso and then ran away, the Merced Police Department reported.
The victim, a 41-year-old, was taken to an area hospital and appeared to be in stable condition, Capt. Tom Trindad said in a news release.
The suspect, Danny Dunn, 41, was spotted running along Bear Creek Drive and Highway 59, according to police. Dunn was arrested a short time later.
Police said the incident was reported at 8:35 a.m. in the 1500 block of West 16th Street in Merced. Officers said the two men got into a dispute over a woman, but did not elaborate.

Officers described both men as transients who are staying in the area near Bear Creek Drive and Highway 59.
Investigators said they recovered a knife believed to have been used in the attack. Dunn was booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault, police said.
