The Kiwanis Club of Greater Merced will kick off the opening of Kiddieland with the Race to the Kiddieland Train, a 2-mile walk/run and a 5-mile run from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Applegate Park. T-shirts will be available, and the proceeds will go to Kiwanis projects. Kiddieland opens for the season Saturday. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 to 5p.m. on Sundays.
