A fatal shooting in south Modesto led to a chase and two-hour standoff Saturday morning. Police captured two of the men and a third eventually gave himself up to law enforcement shortly before noon, said Modesto police Sgt. Rick Applegate.
Gunfire broke out in the 2300 block of Park Faith Lane at 9:10 a.m., Applegate said. One man died of wounds and three men drove off in a black late-model BMW sedan. A passing K-9 officer spotted the car and gave chase, he said. Police indicated the shooting might be drug-related.
Three California Highway Patrol units joined the roughly five-mile chase, up Crows Landing Road and down Seventh Street, turning west on Sierra Drive and ending when the fleeing driver lost control and crashed on Sutter Avenue just south of Rouse Avenue, said CHP officer Bill Splettstoesser.
The three men got out of the car and ran on foot, Applegate said. Police captured two of the men. The third man ran into a house in the 1300 block of Figaro Avenue and barricaded himself inside. Adjacent homes were evacuated and the resident of the property escaped.

Special Weapons And Tactics officers surrounded the home, and the suspect gave himself up shortly before noon, Applegate said.
