We’re closing in on the end of June but it seems a bit more like March out there, with cloudy skies and a chance of rain.
According to the National Weather Service, an unseasonably strong and wet low pressure system is moving through the area. It’s likely to dump up to three inches of rain in area to the north of us, and could break some records for rainfall at this time of year.
In the Merced area, forecasters call for a 30 percent chance of rain, but with much less than an inch expected. It will be mostly cloudy, with a high of near only 79 and a low of 63.
The system is expected to move out by the end of Tuesday, with any rain expected to wrap up by about 11 a.m.
And if you’re missing summer, it will be back by the end of the week. High temperatures are expected to be back near 90 by Wednesday, and closing in on triple digits by the end of the week.
