The Merced County Health Department will hold two free flu shot clinics on Oct. 27.
One clinic will be held at the Atwater Community Center, 760 E. Bellevue Road in Atwater, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On the same day, a clinic will be held at the Los Banos Fairgrounds, 403 F St. in Los Banos, in the O’Banion Building from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The clinics are open to anyone over the age of six months, and the fee for the shots will be waived. The clinics are being conducted as a mass vaccination-public health emergency exercise to test the department’s readiness for a health-related emergency.
The clinics are sponsored by the health department with support from the California Department of Public Health. There are no shortages of vaccines this year, according to the public health department. This year’s vaccine will protect against the H1N1 (swine) flu and two other strains, N3N2 and influenza B.
Never miss a local story.
