The Merced Irrigation District’(MID) said its Lake McSwain biannual trout fishing was won by Gordon Tolbert, who won $1,000 for catching tagged fish No. 52.
This year’s largest trout caught was 4.6 lbs and caught by Tony Inzana, 89, winner of $200. Twelve additional tagged fish were caught with prizes of $265 each.
The derby attracted more than 500 participants of all ages, was held at Lake McSwain on Saturday and ended at noon on Sunday.
The next MID Lake McSwain trout fishing derby is scheduled for April 2011.

In addition, MID had a booth set up by the Lake McSwain Marina and was giving away Coast Guard-approved life jackets and water safety activity books to all the kids at the lake on Saturday.
