Three men were arrested on suspicion of making explosives Friday after a live pipe bomb was found inside a home in the 1800 block of East 22nd Street, Merced police reported.
Officers arrived at the home around 11:30 a.m. and conducted a probation check on the suspects, finding the bomb and materials to make additional explosives, police said.
Cho Vang, 33, Pao Moua, 35, and Yeu Cha, 48, were arrested and neighbors were evacuated.
Officers set up a perimeter around the area and the Merced Bomb Unit was called to to the scene. Detective Dave Alcaraz and Sgt. Joe Weiss safely disposed of the pipe bomb and there were no injuries.
The suspects were booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of possessing an explosive device.
