A person on the Union Pacific train track was killed Sunday when he was struck by a passing train.
The person was hit on the tracks near West 16th Street and Highway 59 at about 5:30. He suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Train conductors were aware they had struck the person and stopped the train. They then called police. The name of the person was not released while authorities were trying to notify the man's family.
