A lecture series focusing on science and engineering is scheduled to begin Saturday at 10 a.m. with a speech on nanoscience at the Challenger Learning Center by UC Merced professor Lilian Davila.
Davila's speech is called "Computational Materials Science: Expanding Nanoscience Learning and Research Opportunities." She'll talk about research methods used to study and predict certain phenomena using laws and theories from mathematics, physics and chemistry. The lecture will begin with a hands-on demonstration of some nanoscience concepts.
The speech is part of the fall Challenger-UC Merced Frontiers of Science and Engineering Lecture Series.
