Merced County Catholic Charities announced Thursday that Virginia Olonso has been named its director of immigration services. Alonso has worked for nine years in related fields, starting as a volunteer for the organization in 2001 while she attended Merced College.
Olonso will help people go through the immigration process, educating them on the proper procedures of receiving their citizenship.
Catholic Charities of Merced County, located at 330 W. Main St., in Merced, is a faith-based social services agency. It assists clients with government and public programs, as well as services for victims of domestic violence.
