Yosemite will waive entrance fees on Saturday, Sept. 25, to celebrate National Public Lands Day.
The event is the nation's largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve public lands. In 2009, 150,000 volunteers built trails and bridges and removed trash and invasive plants throughout the country.
Yosemite is inviting visitors to participate in the Yosemite Facelift, a massive cleanup effort that continues that goes from Sept. 22 to Sept. 26. Last year more than 1,200 volunteers cleaned up more than 60,000 pounds of trash throughout the park and more than 100 miles of roadway and 120 miles of trails were cleaned.
