NEWMAN -- To be continued...
The referees stopped the Mariposa-Orestimba game on Friday with the game tied at 14-14 after two overtimes.
Both head coaches tried to talk the officials into playing until the game was concluded, but the referees didn't want to continue.
The two coaches had to persuade the officials to allow the game to go to overtime after the game was tied at the end of regulation.
"It was exciting, it was dramatic, it was football," said Mariposa coach Bob Kelly. "Both sides wanted to go on. Everyone there wanted to keep going except the striped shirts."
It's likely the two teams will have to conclude the game from the start of the third overtime some time this week.
"Ideally we can finish on Tuesday and we can go on with our lives," Kelly said. "We're both on the same page. We want to see a final resolution to the game."
