A 62-year-old truck driver found dead inside his big rig near Los Banos has been identified by the Merced County Coroner's Office as Harvey Hansen of Malad City, Idaho.
Hansen was found Thursday inside his truck's sleeper compartment at a rest stop located at Nees Avenue and Interstate 5, according to Deputy Tom MacKenzie.
The trucking company Hansen worked for hadn't heard from him in a few days and asked a co-worker to search for him. The co-worker drove to several rest stops in the area and found Hansen's parked rig.
When the worker opened the cab, he saw Hansen in a sleeping position and called paramedics. Rigg's Ambulance arrived and pronounced Hansen dead at the scene, MacKenzie said.
Investigators don't believe foul play is involved, saying Hansen had a pre-existing medical condition and appears to have died of natural causes.
