The city of Merced said it has stockpiled sand and bags for use by residents.
The sand is available 24/7 at the locations below. Residents should bring their own shovels and be prepared to load the sand.

City residents needing sandbags should contact the Central Fire Station 99 E. 16th St. The phone number is (209) 385-6891.
Sand and sandbags can also be obtained from the county Public Works Department, through the Thornton Avenue entrance.
