While the recession has caused many businesses to slash their marketing budgets, City Signs, a Modesto-based company that designs, installs and services signs, has seen an increase in business. According to owner Greg Kyler, that is in part because of the cost-effectiveness of sign advertising. “Signs are the least expensive form of advertisement,” he says, “Existing businesses are doing more in signs than before because of the economy.”
But while the signs themselves may be reason enough to seek their services, Greg believes that there’s another factor that has helped them rise above their competitors – their unwavering dedication to providing top-of-the-line customer service.
City Signs was founded in 1997 by Greg and his son Drew, but before opening the company, Greg had already had two prior careers in the customer service industry. Greg was able to take his years of customer service experience into City Signs and create a culture that valued the customer above all else.
“I wanted to make sure I brought good service to the table, and to the sign industry,” he explains.
For City Signs, this means providing prompt attention to customer needs. Often times, customers will have City Signs employees at their location within a day to give quotes and make recommendations. The Kylers also believe that being a customer-oriented business means being involved in the community, and both
Greg and Drew participate and give to a variety of community-based organizations.
With a focus on customers being combined with a like-minded dedication to providing an excellent product and competitive pricing, City Signs has created a formula that has equaled success, and there’s no sign of that changing anytime soon.
