Patti and Craig Truett's garden at 2424 Becker Court, Modesto, is the Modesto Garden Club's May Garden of the Month. Five years ago, the couple hired someone to create a landscape plan. The result: flower beds filled with impatiens, an array of foundation plants — including red-tipped nandia, fortnight lilies, sago palms, butterfly bushes and azalea topiaries — that add color and texture. Other garden highlights include aggregate concrete steps that lead to the front door, four Japanese maple trees accented with outdoor lighting at night and a sitting area with two Adirondack chairs made by Patti Truett's father. The Truetts have lived in their home for 23 years.
