What is the primary reason you are running for this office? To represent all children and our community during the decision-making process to support decisions and implement solutions on behalf of all children. I believe that all children deserve equitable opportunities, high quality education, safe learning environment and resources for them to achieve success academically and socially. I am committed to support and to collaborate with all board members and school administrators to adopt policies, set directions and provide solutions to improve learning skills that will benefit all children in their academic performance.
What will your single most important priority be if you get elected? Implement and support proactive strategies to close the achievement gap for our students in the Patterson Unified School District. Provide much better choices in nutrition for them to be healthier and to assure safety for all children in our schools.
What sets you apart from the other candidates? Twenty two years of living experience in Mexican culture, and thirty two years of living experience in the United States gave me the skills and ability to understand diversity and human behaviors from both cultures. I am bilingual. I speak and write fluently both languages, English and Spanish; therefore, I am capable to communicate and understand their needs, personal habits and trained behaviors which are supported by issues and opinions, specially in a school district such as Patterson School District with approx 65% enrollment of Latino students. Twenty nine years of practicing in the professional engineering field with upward mobility (supervising control systems technicians, elect-mechanical technicians and drafting unit). I consider myself as cautious, honest, consistent, logical, compliance-seeking, friendly, loyal, truthful, confident and ambitious.
