Oh, those lucky Irish.
What with their leprechauns and soap that makes them smell fresh from the spring...wait, those things aren't real? Well, at least they still can lay claim to a grand holiday with St. Patrick's Day.
The day is dedicated to the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick, in observance of the anniversary of his death in the fifth century. The first St. Patrick's Day celebrated stateside was in New York City in 1762.
Across the valley and foothills, the event will be celebrated with parties, music and hearty plates full of corned beef and cabbage, all washed down with a couple of pints of green beer.
Never miss a local story.
