Get your dollar ready!
Can $1 make a difference in the life of a child?
You bet it can!
Kids' Day is a partnership between The Modesto Bee and
The Salvation Army. Through donations
and special edition newspaper sales, our mission is to raise funds to benefit Salvation Army
programs for youth at the Red Shield Center in Modesto. Hundreds of children benefit from Kids' Day.
Kids' Day provides an opportunity for local people to help local children. Kids' Day papers
will be sold for $1, and seventy-five cents of each dollar is directed toward after-school
tutoring and mentoring programs, computer labs for homework, lunch programs for children
who are "off-track" from school, year-round day camps, sports equipment and uniforms, swim
lessons and facilities and so much more.
Since 1996, more than $600,000 has been raised for at-risk children in Modesto.
Tuesday, May 19, 2009 marks our 13th annual event.

community volunteers are needed to sell papers throughout Modesto and Turlock on Kids'
Day, May 19, 2009.
Each year community volunteers help sell a special edition of The Modesto Bee. The
newspaper is wrapped with a section showcasing The Salvation Army's programs for youth.
This Kids' Day edition is only available through volunteers. The newspapers are sold
for $1.00 with 75 cents going directly to The Salvation Army youth programs.
