Comedy Jam at Merced Theatre

A new documentary film that explores fracking and its effects on water will be screened at 6 p.m. Saturday at Coffee Bandits, 309 W. Main St. “Triple Divide” is co-directed by Public Herald journalists Joshua Pribanic and Melissa Troutman.
‘Greatest Generation’ salute
“Thanks for the Memories: A Salute to the Greatest Generation” will be presented Saturday at the Castle Air Museum. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. The dinner-dance and variety show is a major fundraiser for the museum. Bill Johnson of Las Vegas, a Bob Hope impersonator, will be the master of ceremonies. Merced ShakespeareFest will present “Cymbeline” on Saturday and Sunday and Sept. 13-14 at Applegate Park in Merced. Performances are at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturdays and 5 p.m. Sundays. Menudo at Club Mercedes
Club Mercedes’ regular menudo schedule will begin Sunday and continue through March. Serving time is from 8 a.m. until noon (or earlier, depending on the amount of menudo sold). Mercy Gulch Days return
The three-day event Mercy Gulch Days is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Sept. 12 at Bob Hart Square, at Canal and Main streets. Most of the activities are free and include a breakfast Sept. 13, a fun run Sept. 14 and live music, among other highlights. Reich to bring film to Merced
Former U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert Reich will visit the Merced Theatre, 301 W. Main St., on Sept. 25 and take part in a Q&A after the showing of “Inequality for All,” a documentary about income inequality. The event is sponsored by the UC Merced Office of the Chancellor and the Blum Center for Developing Economies. The film starts 7 p.m.
10th annual FFA Dinner
The 10th annual FFA Dinner/Auction Fundraiser is scheduled for Sept. 27 at the Merced County Fairgrounds, inside the Yosemite Building. Appetizers will be served at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6. Tickets are $50 per person and $350 per table. Attendees under age 21 must be accompanied by a parent. Textbook meeting in Le Grand
Trustees for the Le Grand Union High School District will hold a hearing at their public meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the school’s boardroom-cafeteria, 12961 E. Le Grand Road. The hearing will detail the extent to which sufficient textbooks and instructional materials are provided to all students, in compliance with the state education code. Parents, teacher and members of the community are encouraged to participate.
