A Modesto man is in critical condition after being shot near his home in southeast Modesto on Friday morning.
Modesto police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Trudi Way, a few blocks north of the Yosemite Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue intersection, at about 4:40 a.m.
Sgt. Ivan Valencia said a 911 caller told dispatchers he had heard gunshots and, when he left his home a short time later to go to work, found the victim slumped over in a car.
The 35-year-old victim, who suffered at least one gunshot wound, was taken to a local hospital. His name was not released.
Valencia said detectives have not identified any suspects or determined a motive for the shooting.
