SCHOOL: Central Valley
ON THE PITCH: The senior midfielder had 31 goals and 29 assists, and with teammate Omar Orozco (47g, 11a) formed one of the highest-scoring tandems in state soccer history. The Hawks went 25-2 only to lose in the section title game for the fourth time in the last five seasons.
OFF THE PITCH: Ramos is an honor student at Central Valley, carrying a 3.9 GPA with a class load that includes four advanced placement courses plus an additional honors course. He also serves as president of the school’s soccer club, which he helped to establish. The club not only serves to promote soccer on campus, but also performs community service and aims to give its members information about attending college.
WHAT’S AHEAD: Ramos has accepted a combined athlete/academic/need-based scholarship offer of San Diego State and will play soccer for the Division I Aztecs. He hopes to tackle a pre-med line of study in hopes of becoming a surgeon.
QUOTABLE: “It was very disappointing that we couldn’t fulfill our ultimate goal of winning a section title, but if we look at the full season there were many more positive things than negative,” Ramos said.
