Merced Gardens and Nursery’s landscape talk
Merced Gardens and Nursery will hold a Fall Edible Landscape Talk at 10 a.m. Saturday on Highway 59. The business also is at the farmers market every first and third Wednesday of the month at the Promenade, and at the downtown location on N Street, between 18th and 19thstreets, on Saturdays.
World Habitat Day barbecue
A World Habitat Day 2013 barbecue will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Rahilly Park in Merced. There will be an art contest; all entries must be submitted by 12:30 p.m. Saturday. VFW serves up Breakfast at the Hall
ATWATER Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary 9946 of Atwater will hold a breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the Veterans Building at Fifth Street and Broadway. Cost is $6. EL NIDO Merced County Supervisor John Pedrozo will hold his seventh annual Portuguese Beans and Linguica Dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the El Nido Community Hall on Highway 59. Tickets are $20 and take-out is available.
Our Lady of Mercy School’s Oktoberfest
Our Lady of Mercy School will hold an Oktoberfest celebration at 6 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Merced Fruit Barn, 4526 E. Highway. 140. Tickets are $25 each and proceeds will benefit the school’s computer lab. Beer, sausage, pretzels and more will be available. Call (209) 722-7496.
Free electronic waste recycling event
Merced College’s Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society will hold a free e-waste recycling event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 12-13 in parking lot A in front of the Administration Building. The group will take any consumer electronic equipment, working or not, including electric appliances with a cord, computer monitors, televisions, PC systems, printers, laptops, copiers, scanners, fax machines and toner cartridges.
