Authorities have closed down Highway 33 south of Los Banos for a big rig collision and fuel spill.

Preliminary California Highway Patrol reports indicate the accident occurred at 1:26 p.m. Jet fuel is leaking onto the road.

The bid rig, hauling fuel used for cropdusters, went off the road and into a tree.

Authorities have ruled it a hazardous materials spill and have crews working to contain it. In the meantime, the road is closed for a quarter-mile in each direction; the closure is estimated to last four to six hours.

We have a photographer on the way to the scene and will have more on this story later today as information becomes available.
