Dear Readers, We hope you are as excited as we are. Modesto is close to opening the Gallo Center for the Arts - a dream come true for so many. Talk of a performing-arts center has been decades-long. The vision was shared by many and efforts were noble in their intent but so often fell far short of the goal. Today, we can look to the Gallo family - especially Marie Gallo - for having a dream to share. The Gallos provided those important first steps toward this project. And they never gave up or lost confidence that the center they so passionately believed in would benefit all of us. Our community is fortunate so many others followed. The Foster family. The Mary Stuart Rogers Foundation. John and June Rogers. The list goes on and on. People who raised money. People who gave money. People who built the center from the ground up. People who shared in the vision. The center - and our community - benefited from efforts and donations both big and small. The Bee is proud to present this introductory edition for the Gallo Center for the Arts. You'll find out what events are planned for the month leading up to the grand opening, including the Modesto Art & Wine Festival, how the center came to be, the many events scheduled for the two theaters, the resident companies, the programs for youth, the venue itself and so much more. Please join us in celebrating the Gallo Center for the Arts and the many people who helped to make it happen. |
