Girl not injured by wrong meds from Ceres Walgreen

Five-year-old Ellen O'Neill didn't suffer permanent injury after she was given the wrong medication at the Walgreen Drug Store at Hatch Road and Central Avenue in Ceres, said Wilma O'Neill, her mother.

A cardiologist who examined the girl last week determined nothing was wrong with her heart.

On Nov. 4, the drugstore gave the mother a bottle labeled as flu medication for her daughter, but the bottle contained a heart medication.

O'Neill gave her daughter two doses of the drug, at two times the normal dose, before the error was discovered.
