Fourth of July
Grab a good seat for the 140th annual Modesto Fourth of July Parade. This year’s Modesto Kiwanis Club event, themed “Land of the Free, Home of the Brave,” will have some 125 entries, including marching bands, floats, performers and more. The parade moves from 10th and F streets to J Street, then up 11th Street and back to I Street to 17th Street. Surrounding cities also have events planned, with fireworks scheduled at dusk in Turlock at the Stanislaus County Fairground, Oakdale at Woodward Reservoir, Ripon at Mistlin Sports Park, Gustine at the high school football field, Atwater at Castle Airport and others.

The final MoBand concert in the park of the year is already here. The wildly popular free community concert series in Graceada Park brought out throngs of people during its 95th season. The show is as much a social event as people visit with friends and bring picnics. The finale will be themed “Summer Replay,” with the most popular selections from the concert series performed again by popular demand.

State’s ‘Hard Day’s Night’
Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles big-screen debut, “A Hard Day’s Night,” at the State Theatre. The first 100 guests will receive oversize peace symbol pendants. All guests can enjoy live Beatles music courtesy of area bands Third Party and Elementary Penguin. The black-and-white 1964 film helped cement the Beatlemania sweeping across the continents.

Sierra Nevada Arts & Crafts Festival
Find unexpected treasures at the 42nd annual Sierra Nevada Arts & Crafts Festival in Arnold this weekend. Browse through more than 65 booths of fine crafts, artwork and gourmet food. Kick off the festival by watching the Ebbetts Pass Independence Day parade at 10 a.m., adjacent to the festival grounds. The event will feature live country swing music, jugglers and other entertainment both days.

On My Honor
Tennessee-based band On My Honor swings its U.S. tour through The Brewhouse at Hero’s Sports Lounge. On the road with the pop-punk band are California groups The Sheds and Smalls.
