There’s a bounty of fall festivals coming your way this weekend, a perfect chance to get out of the house and enjoy what promises to be one of the cooler stretches the Valley’s had in a while.
The Greek Food Festival promises plenty of delectable delights in a mostly indoor setting. The Modesto International Architecture Festival wraps up on Sunday with events both indoors and out. Here’s a look at what’s on tap:
MODESTO INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE FESTIVAL – Today through Sunday: Today’s events include “Park(ing) Day” on J Street between 10th and 14th, an exhibit of creatively designed “parklets” that will temporarily take over parking spaces, beginning at 9 a.m. On Saturday, a guided bike tour of the design district and the Graceada Park area begins at 10 a.m. in front of the Gallo Center for the Arts, 10th and I streets. The 2- to 3-mile ride begins in the historic design district, then moves into two of the city’s oldest residential neighborhoods. Bring your own bike and helmet. A children’s architecture and design workshop at 1421 I St. is Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. And Saturday evening will feature keynote speaker Russell Abraham at the State Theatre, 1307 J St., with a reception at 6 p.m.; program at 7. MO-PRIDE FESTIVAL – Saturday: supporting the gay, lesbian and transgender community. Food, entertainment, beer and wine garden, vendors, Recovery Art Project, kids zone and teen garden. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Graceada Park, Modesto. (209) 605-9420.
HUGHSON HARVEST FESTIVAL – Saturday and Sunday: food, booths, chili cook-off, entertainment, children’s play area, alumni baseball and football games, street dance, car show, displays and exhibits. GREEK FOOD FESTIVAL – Saturday-Sunday: Greek dinner, homemade pastries, church tours, agora (marketplace), coffeehouse with live Greek music and entertainment.
