Nobody was injured this morning after a small fire broke out in a south Modesto home.
At 9:30 a.m., the Modesto Fire Department responded to the call of a fire at a single-story home in the 1800 block of Seattle Drive, just northwest of the corner of Crows Landing Road and Glenn Avenue. When firefighters arrived, they found a couch on fire inside the home and a lot of smoke billowing out.
Modesto Fire Battalion Chief Sean Slamon said there was more smoke than fire damage to the roughly 800-square-foot home. He estimated the damage between $25,000 and $30,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Slamon said.
