A tip Friday morning led police to a Ceres home, where officers arrested two men on suspicion of burglary.
The burglary occurred about 9:40 a.m. in the 3200 block of Lotus Court, just east of Mitchell Road and north of Fowler Road.
A witness saw two men knocking on the home's front door and looking in the windows, according to a Ceres police news release.
When the residents didn't open the door, the suspects went into the back yard. As officers arrived, they saw one of the suspects coming out of the home. The suspect went back into the house and out the back door.
One of the suspects tried jumping over the back fence but was met by one of the officers, police said. The suspects jumped another fence, but the officers caught up to them at Ceres Fire Department Station 4 and took them into custody.
Joseph Gonzales, 25, and Anthony Weishaar, 20, were arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Police said the men had items taken from the home. Gonzales and Weishaar were being held at the Stanislaus County Jail on Saturday afternoon. Their bail was set at $50,000 each. Their cities of residence were not available Saturday.
