A car thief bitten by a sheriff's K-9 has filed a $750,000 claim against Stanislaus County.
Deputies "spotted me driving a stolen vehicle" in the Hickman-Waterford area on Nov. 23, parolee Matthew Fann said in the claim, filed from prison. "I got my tendon ripped out of my arm. Can't use pinky finger. In pain every day. Nasty scar, 6 in(ches) long," the document reads.
Fann, 30, was returned to the Sierra Conservation Center near Jamestown for a parole violation. He was sentenced to an additional four years for auto theft, said sheriff's spokeswoman Gina Leguria.
County supervisors referred the claim to their risk management division.
