A man was stabbed during a street fight a few minutes after 12 a.m., Saturday, in Modesto, police said. The man, a 28-year-old Riverbank resident, was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover, Lt. Andy Schlenker said. He said he believes five to 10 men were fighting in the street at Laramie Drive and Dixon Way, northeast of Lakewood Avenue and Scenic Drive, when the stabbing occurred. The Riverbank man was stabbed once with a knife. His attacker fled on foot. Officers detained a man who was spotted running through nearby Christine Sipherd Elementary School. Schlenker said the man was not involved in the fight and ran because he is wanted on an out-of-state warrant. "We believe we have a suspect identified, and the investigation continues," Schlenker said.
