RIPON - Police reported today that they arrested two gang members after a fight several days ago.
Police received a report of a fight under way Saturday evening at the intersection of West Washington Street and Ripona Avenue. Witnesses said two suspects confronted someone and then punched him or her. The victim, who police said was also a gang member, did not require medical attention.
Officer Mike Perry spotted the suspects running from the scene through the Ripona Elementary School campus. One was immediately taken into custody and identified as a 17-year-old Ripon boy. The second suspect, another 17-year-old Ripon boy, was arrested shortly afterward.
Both boys were booked into the San Joaquin County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of battery, participating in a criminal street gang, conspiracy, violation of a court order and possession of tobacco. The second suspect was also charged with delaying or resisting an officer.
