DELHI - A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana after agents with the Merced/Mariposa High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area reported serving a search warrant at his home.

Inside the house on the 7700 block of South Sycamore Street, investigators found about 98 marijuana plants, in addition to equipment and several vials of steroids, according Cmdr. Neil Compston of the task force.

The suspect, John Richard Alves, cooperated with investigators while being taken into custody, Compston said. The total value of the bust was about $100,000.

Alves was booked into the Merced County Main Jail on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana and possession of steroids for sale. He is being held in lieu of $510,000 bail.
