I have been looking for years for a Portuguese anise liqueur recipe that my grandmother used to make. It's called anis cristalizado. It is made with vodka and anise extract.
Once completed, you end up with what looks like a crystal tree inside the bottle. You begin by bringing a mixture of sugar and water to a boil. If you boil this mixture too long or not long enough, the sugar will not crystallize.
Does anyone have this recipe and the temperature at which you boil the sugar and water?
• Poor Red's recipes?: Does anyone have recipes from Poor Red's, located just outside Placerville? I especially was interested in their barbecue rub and the sauce for their pork ribs.
