A man and two women were arrested today on various charges following an early morning burglary in central Modesto.

Police arrived at a home in the 800 block of Sunrise Avenue after a report of a burglary about two miles away at a shop on a residential property in the 1600 block of Pearl Street, according to Sgt. Brian Findlen, a spokesman for the Modesto Police Department.

In reporting the burglary, a witness said two or three men, and a woman, were loading items out of the Pearl Street shop into an old model Chevy pickup, Findlen said. The witness also gave officers a license plate, which led them to the Sunrise Avenue residence.

When police arrived, they found several people in the back yard, including one who went back into the house, Findlen said. At that point, police set up a perimeter around the house, and closed off Sunrise Avenue for about 45 minutes.

The man eventually came out of the house.

One of the men, Gary Tackett, 35, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and a parole violation. Meanwhile, two women at the scene also were arrested, Findlen said. They were:

— Amanda Tubbs, 28, who was booked for a parole violation after she was tied to the discovery of two bullet-proof vests and a ballistic helmet in the house.

— Crystal Gooch, 30, who was arrested for a parole violation. Modesto police is still investigating, accoding to Findlen.
