STEVINSON -- A 31-year-old Turlock man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Saturday, after he allegedly stabbed two men outside Stevinson Bar and Grill.
Merced County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested suspect Colby Browning, based on witness descriptions. Investigators also searched his residence in the 600 block of Crane Avenue in Turlock, according Sgt. Jason Goins of the sheriff's Major Crimes Unit.
The stabbings happened during an argument between Colby and a 23-year-old Denair man, Goins said.
The argument became physical, Goins said, and Colby stabbed the victim twice in the chest.
Goins said a 23-year-old friend of the victim rushed to his aid, but was stabbed in the leg by Colby.
Both victims were transported to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock.
Goins said the victim who was stabbed in the chest remains in critical condition.
The second victim was released from the hospital.
A search warrant at Colby's residence yielded clothes which contained blood.
Goins said the suspect had changed clothes prior to his arrest, although the clothes found at the residence matched witness descriptions. The weapon has not been recovered, Goins said.
The sheriff's department is asking anyone with information about the stabbing to call (209) 385-7472.
