Bodies of man, woman found near Le Grand in Merced County

MERCED - Two people were found dead this morning in the kitchen of a home at 9486 E. Le Grand Road, according to the Merced County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's dispatchers received a call at 9:47 a.m., and when deputies arrived 10 minutes later, they found a man and woman dead in the kitchen, with possible gunshot wounds.

The deaths are being investigated as possible homicides by the Sheriff's Department's major crimes unit. No arrests have been made.

Deputy Ed Katen said that a child in the home called a family member about the bodies. The family member then called 9-1-1. The child, whose age and name aren't being released, is staying with family members.

Katen said the sheriff's department hasn’t had any calls to the home previously.
