Fire near Oakdale destroys building, cars

A fire north east of Oakdale caused an estimated $75,000 in damage, fire officials said.

The fire in the 8400 block of Oak Crest Court in the North Oaks subdivision started about 6:20 a.m. The fire was in a detached shop that was deemed a total loss, an official at Oakdale Rural Fire Department said. The shop contained two vehicles that were destroyed. A boat outside the shop was also destroyed and another car near the shop was damaged.

The fire was contained in about 30 minutes and 18 firefighters from Oakdale Rural and Oakdale City fire departments were at the scene cleaning up for three hours. The cause is unknown.
