Fall's here, but it still feels like summertime in the valley. A small crew worked early Wednesday to beat the heat at Bava Farms in Modesto.

The 5-year-old operation grows fruits and vegetables sold at farmers markets in Modesto, Oakdale, Riverbank, Patterson, Turlock and Stockton.

Bava Farms also sells wholesale to local fruit stands. Planting starts the first week in March and harvesting doesn't wind down until almost Thanksgiving.

Bava Farms grows pumpkins, tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers, cantaloupe, watermelon and many varieties of squash and peppers.
