Modesto students make musical ‘Magic’

More than 1,000 student vocalists in third through eighth grades are performing in Modesto City Schools’ annual three-day Area Choral Concerts. The concerts kick off Monday night and continue Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Modesto High School auditorium, 18 H St. This year’s theme is “Disney: Celebrating 60 Magical Years.” The concerts are free and open to the public. The schools performing Monday night are Roosevelt, Beard, Enslen, Fremont, Garrison, Martone, Shackelford and Sonoma. Tuesday’s lineup is La Loma, El Vista, Lakewood, Orville Wright, Rose Avenue and Wilson. Performing Wednesday are students from Mark Twain, Burbank, Bret Harte, Franklin, Kirschen, Marshall and Robertson Road. Among the songs on the program are “Hakuna Matata,” “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” “Under the Sea,” a “Beauty and the Beast” medley and “Let it Go.”
